Free automatic support and resistance indicator for NinjaTrader 8
Drawing support and resistance by hand takes time and everyone puts them in a different place. This indicator does it for you with the same rule every time: it finds price swings (swing highs and lows), groups the ones that are close into a zone and shows the zones with the most touches.
The color comes from where price is, not from how the zone was born: green if it's below price (support) and red if it's above (resistance). So broken support turns into resistance on its own. Each zone has a label with its price and touches, and it can alert you when price reaches it.

What the indicator draws
- Horizontal zones from price swings (highs and lows with 10 bars on each side), grouped when they're less than half an ATR apart.
- The 6 zones with the most touches in the last 500 bars, without overlapping: zones that almost touch are merged and add up their touches.
- Green when the zone is below price (support) and red when it's above (resistance).
- Label with the type, price and touches; zone or line style, with thickness by strength.
- Optional alert when price enters a zone.
- "Support" and "Resistance" plots with the nearest zone below and above the close, calculated bar by bar without looking ahead.
How it finds support and resistance
A high is a swing if it's the highest of the 10 bars before and the 10 bars after (and the other way round for lows). That's why a new swing is confirmed 10 bars later: the same delay as any pivot indicator, in exchange for not repainting.
What each screenshot shows
- 01
Zones with their touches
Each zone groups the price swings that are close together (half an ATR by default). The label says whether it's support or resistance, its price and how many swings it has.
- 02
Zone or line
As a shaded band between the zone's highest and lowest swing, or as a line at its average price, thicker the more touches it has.
- 03
They flip roles when broken
The color comes from where price is: when it breaks a resistance, the zone turns green and becomes support; the one above stays red.
How to trade support and resistance
The most common uses. Everything is set in the indicator properties.
Bounce at a zone with several touches
The zones with the most touches are the ones most traders see: they often react the first time they're retested.
Break and retest
Broken support becomes resistance (and vice versa). The indicator flips the color on its own when price crosses.
What the evidence says
Support and resistance work partly because many traders watch the same levels; they aren't a wall. We don't know of public studies showing that trading bounces at automatic zones gives an edge on its own: use them as a map of where price may react, together with your entry.

Frequently asked questions
Does it repaint?
The zones you see are the current ones, built from confirmed swings, and they change when a new swing appears (10 bars after it happens). The "Support" and "Resistance" plots, on the other hand, are stored bar by bar with what was known at the time: they work for strategies without looking ahead.
Why is there no zone below price?
Because price is at the lows of the bars analyzed and there are no swings below. Raise "Bars analyzed" to look further back or load more days on the chart.
How is it different from Supply and demand or Market structure?
Supply and demand looks for the base a strong move came out of, and Market structure marks swing breaks (BOS, CHoCH) and order blocks. This one only counts where price turned around several times.
Does it work on any timeframe?
Yes: minutes, ticks, range, daily… The zone width adapts on its own because it's measured in the chart's own ATR.

The indicators describe what price has done; they don't predict what it will do and they are not investment advice. The risk management tools are an aid: they don't replace your firm's rules or your broker's limits. Only trade futures with money you can afford to lose.
