How Many Funded Accounts Can You Have at Once? Firm by Firm

August 23, 2026
6 min read

The account cap isn't one number, it's three. How many evaluations, how many funded and how many live accounts each of the 11 firms allows — and why five of them count the limit per household, not per user.

Nobody writes it on the pricing page, but every firm caps how many accounts you can hold. And it isn't one number: it's three different numbers that almost nobody separates.

You can hold plenty of evaluations at almost every firm. What's capped is what comes after: how many funded accounts you can run at once, and how many live ones. Going over isn't a warning — at Apex it means losing your funds, at Funded Futures Family it means having your payout denied.

The table, firm by firm

These are the caps on simultaneous funded accounts. The data comes from our own rules database, verified on 16 August 2026.

What really matters: the limit is per house, not per person

This is the point that causes the most trouble and the one no firm puts in large type.

At Funded Futures Family the cap of 5 applies to the household or IP group: if a relative trades from your home, their accounts count inside your 5. On top of that, the extra account has to belong to a direct family member. FundedNext is identical: 5 per user and per household, with household meaning anyone sharing an address or IP. Tradeify says it just as plainly: five Sim Funded accounts per person and per household.

Apex goes further than anyone: its 20 PA accounts combine everyone at your address, your companies and all three data providers (Rithmic, Tradovate and WealthCharts). And TradeDay flatly allows one user per household and one username.

The three counting traps

1. Mixing sizes lowers your cap. At My Funded Futures you can run 5 accounts as long as they're all 25K or 50K. The moment a single one is 100K or 150K, the overall maximum drops to 3 counting all the rest. Top One Futures applies exactly the same logic to its Instant plan.

2. Passing more evaluations doesn't give you more accounts, it gives you a queue. At Bulenox, if you already have 5 Master accounts active, the next ones you pass sit in a queue until a slot opens. TradeDay does the same with Funded Sim accounts: the cap is 3 active and the rest wait until you lose one or move it to live. You don't lose what you passed, but you aren't trading it either.

3. Hedging between accounts gets you liquidated. This is the part people find out too late. At TakeProfit Trader, holding positions in opposite directions on the same product — or related products — at the same time means immediate liquidation of every PRO and PRO+ account and the loss of all profits. TradeDay bans cross-account hedging in the same terms. Copy trading from your own account is allowed at TradeDay.

The real ceiling: how far you can actually scale

Apex is the extreme case with 20 funded accounts, but for most firms the real ceiling isn't the number of accounts, it's the money. At My Funded Futures there's a cumulative limit of $100,000 in the simulated phase: adding up payouts and anything allocated to a Pro or Live account, whatever goes beyond that is forfeited unless you make the transition to live. At TakeProfit the brake is different: a maximum of 10 activations of passed tests every 30 calendar days.

And at Funded Futures Family the jump to live closes the door: it's 5 sim accounts or 1 live, not both. Tradeify is the same — once you move to Elite Live you can't keep any other account active.

So how many accounts do you actually want?

This part is opinion, not data. Three accounts of the same size traded with the same plan makes sense for almost everyone: it spreads the risk of one bad day wiping out your only account, and it's still manageable on a single screen.

What doesn't work is buying five accounts to "get more chances". If your system isn't profitable, five accounts multiply by five the speed at which your money disappears, not your probability of passing. The only good reason to scale up in number of accounts is that you're already getting paid consistently on one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are evaluations capped too?

At almost no firm. Apex and Bulenox say so explicitly: evaluations are unlimited. The exceptions are FundedNext (a cap of $750,000 in combined allocation and 15 new challenges per month, resets not counted) and TradeDay, where evaluations do count inside the allowance of 6 total accounts.

Can I hold accounts at several firms at once?

Yes. No firm limits what you do elsewhere, and it's the smartest way to actually diversify: if one firm changes its rules or has a problem, you aren't left with nothing.

Can I copy trades between my own accounts?

It depends on the firm and the scope. TradeDay allows it from your personal account. What's banned everywhere is copying between accounts belonging to different people, or holding opposing positions across accounts.

What happens if I'm caught over the limit?

It varies a lot. At Apex it's loss of funds and a ban. At Funded Futures Family they can deny your payouts and close accounts until you're compliant again. At Bulenox and TradeDay they simply park the extra accounts in a queue.

Does a sim funded account count the same as a live one?

No, and the distinction matters. TradeDay separates 3 Funded Sim from 5 Funded Live, and with a live account active you can't buy new ones. Funded Futures Family gives you 5 sim or 1 live, never both.
